Social media shouldn’t feel like a full-time job, but if you’re running a small business, it can often end up that way.
Between thinking of what to post, trying to keep up with trends, and actually running your business, it can be easy to let your social content fall to the bottom of the list.
If you’ve been up at all hours trying to post, you’ll know what I mean. 😉
Here are 5 quick, no-BS tips to help keep things simple and effective:
1. Start With a Few Core Content Types
Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to post something different every single day.
Just rotate a few types of posts… like:
- Tips or How-Tos
- Behind-the-scenes or “day in the life of” content
- Customer reviews or success stories
- Product or service spotlights
- FAQs are great too
2. Don’t Overthink the Caption
This is a BIG one… Write how you’d speak. Clear beats clever. One key point, one call to action, and you’re done!!!
Most people scroll by really fast… so say what matters early.
3. Use a Consistent Visual Style
Stick to 2 or 3 brand colours and the same fonts throughout, if possible.
You don’t need to be a designer… just keep things recognisable so people know it’s you. You don’t want to confuse people… they’ll just scroll on by.

4. Post Less, Stay Consistent
Three posts a week is more than enough if they’re focused and relevant.
It’s not necessarily about quantity for most businesses… It’s about staying visible.
5. Have a Plan · Even if it’s a Loose One
You don’t need a full content calendar. But knowing what you’re posting this week, and having it ready ahead of time saves stress and keeps your page active.
